PB 3 and 4K

Filed under: Orienteering and Running,Personal — Chris Curtis @ 20:56

I have been back in semi-serious training for about 9 weeks, running three times a week and following the lifehacker “beginner” programme.  The plan looks like this:

  • 1R , 4W x 6 times. Week 1
  • 1R , 3W x 7 times. Week 2
  • 2R, 3W x 6 times. Week 3
  • 2R, 2W x 7 times. Week 4
  • 3R, 3W x 5 times. Week 5
  • 3R, 2W x 6 times. Week 6
  • 3R, 1W x 7 times. Week 7
  • 4R, 2W x 5 times. Week 8
  • 4R, 1W x 6 times. Week 9
  • FULL Running for 30 minutes.

It has been interrupted a few times, mainly due to work commitments, so I am still on week 7 of the ten week plan. With various holidays and other commitments I will probably stay on week 7 for another week or two, but the aim is to run 30 minutes and 5K without stopping before we return to school in September.

I just looked through my running log back to 2007 when I first kept one. I am VERY pleased to see that I have run my fastest 2K and 3K times this month. I am not going to worry the olympic selectors, but the strong sense that the training is working, and that my body is doing more than it has done for years, is very motivating. It now feels good to run – hard work and sweaty in this humid weather – but really good.

You can see how I am doing via Twitter – recorded on the right of this page.

Michelle and Phil’s Wedding – now on Zenfolio

Filed under: Photography and Art,Software and Web — Chris Curtis @ 10:22

I have waited for ages, but zenfolio is now genuinely available in the UK. They provide a service (which you pay for) to display and sell images. The site is fast, clean and does the job well. I had an account set up and working very quickly and smoothly. I will be moving to this service from the “pro gallery” at Photobox straight away.

They even provide a service to create flash galleries you can embed on your favourite web pages!
