Crab Nebula, originally uploaded by ThinkingCamera.
I was pleased with this. The nebula was close to the horizon and I had to cope with the telescope icing up (a hairdryer fixed that!). I was working from a very light polluted suburban garden too.
I took this to test the way I am fitting the camera to the Meade focal reducer. Previously I had some problems, but this looks much better.
M1 – the crab nebula. Remnants of a 1,000 year old Supernova: a star which exploded.
24 x 30second frames using an Atik 16ic camera on a CPC800 at approximately f4 from a suburban location with the nebula only 30 degrees above the horizon.
