This website is created using “WordPress”
WordPress is “open source” software which allows you to create a “blog” – a collection of information organised by date and category. The sofware runs on a web server and uses a mysql database, so creating and maintaining pages is done over the web, just like viewing them.
I have “tweaked” the wordpress software in a number of ways. I have adapted the “styling” – by editing a style file which determines how everything will appear on the page and by making a few changes to the software itself. I enjoy programming in php so it was fun to make minor “hacks” to get it to do what I want.
This site is hosted by “webfusion” a part of “pipex” at their datacentre which has multiple, very high speed connection to the UK internet backbone.
I write the site for my own interest, memories and amusement. If others find something of value here, I am pleased – it is a bonus.
